The Herringbone 2 Stitch

Start with a needle on a thread.
The beads are numbered here to help you locate which bead to connect to.
(pic 1) Put 1 bead on the thread and tie a knot to hold the bead in
place.
(pic 2) Add 1 bead. Go up through the first bead and then back down
through the bead you just added.
(pic 3) Add 1 bead. Go down through the 2nd bead you added and then back
up through the bead you just added (the 3rd bead).
(pic 4) Add the 4th bead the same way you added the 2nd bead. |

(pic 5) Continue adding bead in this manner until you have the length
you want. I have only done 8 here for example.
(pic 6) Why in (pic 5) do the beads lay nice and
flat, when in reality they look more like the beads in (pic 6)?
After you add a few rows, they will lay flat! The flatter they are to
start with the better! |

(Pic 7) Add 2 beads.
(Pic 8) Go down through the # 7 bead. Then up through the # 6 bead.

(Pic 10) Go down through the # 5 bead. Then up through the # 4 bead.

(Pic 12) Go down through the # 3 bead. Then up through the # 2 bead.
(Pic 13) Add 2 beads.
(Pic 14) Go down through the # 1 bead.
(Pic 15) Go up through the #2 bead. Then up through the # 1 bead.
(Pic 16) Add 2 beads.
(Pic 17) Go down through the # 16 bead.
(Pic 18) Add 2 beads.
